WHAT IS THE GENERAL PRACTICE OF LAW?

A general practice is one where the attorneys handle a wide range of legal issues, rather than specializing in a limited number. Think of it in terms of your doctor. If you have a medical issue, you don't go right to a specialist. You visit your general practitioner, first. "Your doctor". If he or she can treat you, then you're done. If you need a more specialized doctor, you get a referral. General practice attorneys work the same way. They usually can handle a good portion of the issues encountered by individuals or small businesses. If you need someone more specialized, they can tell you, and usually refer you to someone who can help.
